How You Can Save Money on a Life Insurance Policy and Live Healthy
Residents of Omaha who want to stay healthy and get in shape are in excellent company. A survey conducted by CQ Press ranked Nebraska as the 7th healthiest state in the U.S. based on factors like life expectancy and access to quality healthcare. An integral component of keeping healthy is regular physical activity, like walking. Regardless of your age or fitness level, this is an excellent aerobic activity that can help improve your heart health, lower your stress levels, boost mood, and reduce your cholesterol levels. Luckily, this is a very accessible city, and we will fill you in on the area's related events, opportunities, and trails in this post.
Omaha Walking Club
Before the health benefits of walking were even discovered, the city had a walking club to create a forum for residents who shared an interest in the activity. In fact, the Omaha Walking Club was founded in 1919, becoming one of the first of its kind. The club focuses on organized activities but also organizes hikes, horseback riding, campouts, swimming, and more. You do not have to join the Omaha Walking Club (OWC) to participate in the club's events. OWC meets every Sunday at 2 PM in their clubhouse next to the Fontenelle Forest, rain or shine. Most club-sponsored events are approximately two to four miles in length, though some may be longer. You can contact the Omaha Walking Club on their website for more information and a schedule of upcoming events.
Omaha-Council Bluffs Start! Heart Walk
Every year, the American Heart Association sponsors a walk to promote physical fitness and raise money for heart disease and stroke prevention research. The event, called the Omaha Start! Heart Walk, is open to anyone who would like to participate. Before the day of the event, participants are encouraged to solicit donations for the American Heart Association from sponsors. Corporate teams or teams of family and friends are welcome as well.
